I'm grateful that I've picked up relatively few ticks during many years of bushwalking, especially lately, when I seem to be always in dense vegetation looking for birds and any other little creatures which may be around.

This tick I removed from my torso using a pair of fine tweezers, and happily I have removed its head intact - leaving none in me - but the poor creature doesn't seem to be feeling the best, and I can only count seven of its legs, instead of the eight it most likely had when it grabbed hold of me.
